Austin: The Birthplace of IASA
In 2002, a small group of software architects in Austin, Texas became increasingly frustrated over the lack of resources and community support for their profession. Paul Preiss came up with the idea of creating a users group and soon after the newly formed Austin Software Architecture Users Group (ASAUG) held its first meeting with great success.
Months later, IT architects from cities around the US began to contact ASAUG to find out if they too could start their own software architecture users group in their community.
