Monthly Meeting

IASA Chapter NYC

Next chapter meeting will be on December 15, 2009 at 6 PM.
(The meeting room will be announced when you arrive.)

Kanban for Software and Systems Development.

Abstract:
Kanban for Software Development is the latest hot topic in the Lean/Agile Software Development community.  Like any new approach to software development, the typical questions arise:  What is it?  What makes it different than existing approaches?  Is it just the latest buzzword or is there something more to it?  How can I migrate my current software development process to Kanban?  How does limiting work in progress with Kanban affect software architectures?

During this presentation, John Goodsen will present an introduction to the principles behind limiting work in process and show how these principles can be re-inforced with Kanban principles on software and systems development projects.  The presentation is fun and incorporates some group exercises to help reinforce the non-intuitive concepts of Lean software development through example.

About the speaker:
John Goodsen is a Lean/Agile/XP/Scrum coach and the founder of RADSoft, an Agile and Software Design consulting firm.  He has been developing software for over 25 years and most recently has been coaching and training software teams in Extreme Programming, Scrum and Agile/Lean software development for the last 10 years.  Over the last 2 years, he has successfully introduced Kanban into large NYC media companies, web application startup firms and international sourcing/supply-chain companies.
